NYX Cosmetics released their new line of cream lipsticks seven weeks ago and as it's been sold out on their site for weeks now, I finally picked some up on Ulta. The Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks ($7) come in twelve shades and NYX states that they "...set into a stricking matte finish. Velvety soft and waterproof..." I purchased five shades including, 'Sandstorm', 'Soft-Spoken', 'Vintage', 'Stone Fox' and 'Amethyst'.
The packaging of the Liquid Suedes are much larger in diameter than any other liquid lipstick product I own, they are also much taller than the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. They come with 0.13 fl. oz. of product which puts it on par on affordability with my favorite affordable liquid lipstick, ColourPop's Ultra Matte Lip which is at $6 for 0.11 fl. oz. The product has a long, thin doe foot applicator and has a black gem at the base of the cap.
The formula of the Liquid Suedes is thin but not watery. They wear very light on the lips but can take some time to dry on the lips, especially if you've laid it on more thick or have used more than one coat (2-6 minutes). They do not dry down and set super matte, instead I would call them a semi-matte or satin finish but I was expecting that when reading "cream lipstick". I found them to be slightly drying on my lips but not uncomfortable. They last 4-5 hours on me before fading off. The Liquid Suedes are not waterproof which is disappointing, but not unexpected because they are not transfer proof either. The transfer isn't enough to mess with the color on your lips, so it wasn't too much of a big deal to me.
Compared to the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream formula, the Liquid Suede's are slightly longer lasting and stick to the lips a little better. There is less slip with them than with the SMLC but there is more drying with the Liquid Suedes. Even with the disappointment of it not being waterproof, I love the shades with the LS lipsticks, especially 'Soft-Spoken' and 'Stone Fox'. They are so comfortable to wear and will be great for those who prefer mattes that don't set and dry out the lips completely. They have no bleeding or cracking issues which is a plus and the fact that they are only $7 is enough for me to love them.
The Liquid Suedes have been sold out on the NYX website for a while now but are still available on Ulta!
